Do you know how to have a successful Twitter party
In the past, I’ve celebrated my book launches with a Twitter party.
It’s SO MUCH FUN!
I’d participated in parties long before I hosted my own and it was daunting. As nervous as I was in the days leading up to the party it ended up being a ton of fun. I had such a blast. People actually showed up (that was my biggest fear), and there was a lot of engagement.
What I learned from this experience is it wasn’t as hard, or scary, as I thought it might be. I gained some new followers, I sold some books, and more importantly, I made new friends.
It was a low-cost way to get the word out about my book. The reason it cost anything is I did pay someone to help me moderate. To make sure I didn’t miss anything since it was my first one. It wasn’t that expensive, and I would pay for it again. It made me feel less rushed and allowed me more time to interact with people and not worry I was dropping the ball.

What are my 5 tips to have a successful twitter party?
Plan, plan, and plan some more – You can’t decide you’re going to have a party and show up a few minutes before it starts and expect it to be successful. Good planning will start 6-8 weeks out from your date.
Talk it up and invite people personally – Don’t blast social media and expect people to show up. Engage your audience and get them excited to attend. Just like you would if you had a party at your house.
Create a party specific hashtag – You need to be able to track your party. By creating a party specific hashtag, you make it easy for people to find and interact. You also you can measure the success of the party when it’s over.
Create engaging questions – You want your audience to interact, and there’s no better way than to ask questions. For my book launch, I used both business-related questions and fun questions such as:
- What’s your favorite kind of music?
- What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
- What do you enjoy most about what you do?
- What’s the biggest thing you struggle with as an entrepreneur?
- What do you do on a daily basis to grow as an entrepreneur?
- What was your favorite game to play as a child?
- If you could be a character in any novel you’ve ever read, who would you be and why?
- Who’s your favorite actor and why?
- What are you most looking forward to in the next year?
- What popular entrepreneurial advice do you disagree with?
- If you could offer a first-time entrepreneur only one piece of advice, what would it be?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
Have prizes – People love to win things, and it doesn’t have to be anything big. Every 10 minutes I gave away a $5 Amazon gift card to a random winner drawn from those who interacted in that 10-minute time frame.
People loved it.
Having a Twitter party is a great way to interact with your audience and to connect with others.
